The DPDP Act 2023 came into force in 2024 and gives every Indian citizen meaningful rights over their personal data — including health records stored by digital health platforms.
Your key rights as a patient
- Right to access: Any platform that holds your data must provide you a copy on request.
- Right to correct: If your name, phone, or health information is wrong, you can ask for it to be corrected.
- Right to erasure: You can ask for your data to be deleted when it is no longer needed.
- Right to nominate: You can nominate a family member to exercise your rights if you are incapacitated.
